The new season of games in Danbury opened
with Connecticut Wolfpack playing the NY Rangers. The first
period was hard fought defensively until the Rangers Tony
Fitzgerald scored from Bill Hannigan with a minute left in
the period. The Wolfpack did not let the lead last long, as
Tyler Konvent scored his first goal of the season on a pass
from Tim Jones in the opening minutes of the second period.
The second period again saw good defensive efforts and great
goaltending until late in the second period when Tim Jones
scored on an excellent passing sequence from Anthony Kuntz
and Ryan Pelletier. Tim Jones scored his second goal of the
game on a breakaway midway through the 3rd
period. The Rangers were determined to get the game back at
this point and continued to pressure the Wolfpack defense
and pepper the goal with shots, however the CT goalie Karen
Smith playing her strongest game in net continued to absorb
the New York shots, finishing the game with 23 saves on 24
shots. The Wolfpack picked up its first win in the
Prudential Northeast Sled Hockey League with this stunning
3-1 victory.
