Game Commentaries

Connecticut vs. New Hampshire

The second game of the tournament found Connecticut playing New Hampshire. NH was coming off a loss to Maine and CT was starting fresh and hoping to catch an NH team that was tiring. New Hampshire as it turns out was just waking up and blitzed an overmatched CT from start to finish. Joe Howard led the way with 4 goals and 1 assist, but he was not playing this game alone as additional goals were scored by Taylor Chace, Bob Sanford (2), and Crystal Chalich. Luis Aguinaldo performed admirally in goal stopping 14 shots with Connecticuts loan goal scored by Mike “Bubba” Torres. Final score: New Hampshire 8 – Connecticut 1.
 

Connecticut vs. Pennsylvania

By Sunday the final standings for the Lobster Pot were starting to shape up. PA was undefeated at this point and CT had yet to win a game. CT was looking to play the role of spoiler, after PA scored the first goal shortly into the 1st period, CT showed life with a goal by Josh Buglione, and an assist from Bubba, to even the score at 1 to 1.  PA came right back to take a 2 – 1 lead, but again this was short lived as Bubba Torres scored on a breakaway to even the score at 2-2. CT followed this score with a 2nd goal from Bubba Torres on a great feed and assist from Anthony Kuntz, giving CT the lead after the 1st period 3-2.

PA, the strongest team at the Lobster Pot this weekend was not about to let the Wolf Pack prevent the Center-Pedes from achieving their objectives of winning the Pot. Pennsylvania dominated play for the last two periods with a strong team effort and the scoring being spread around as goals came from Moran (2), Connelly (2), Keys (1), Hallman (1), Lawrence (1) and Lubin (1).  Final score: Pennsylvania 8 – Connecticut 3.
