January 22, 2006: With both the Connecticut Wolfpack and the
Northeast Passage Wildcats looking for their first wins of the PNESHL
season, this game had the makings of a great battle. It lived up to its
billing as both teams played a well-matched contest.
Both teams had their chances, but the game was scoreless after one period. However, the strong defense and great goalkeeping of Connecticut was finally broken on a great shot and goal by Wildcat Captain Kevin Hosier just 30 seconds into the second period. This was followed a few minutes later by another Hosier goal, this time assisted by Chris McGarry who really made the play with a great rush and pinpoint pass to Kevin. The Wolfpack did not roll over and play dead however, and the third period saw much more action in the Northeast Passage end with one puck sent skating along the goal line behind Wildcat goalie Aguinaldo Luis, but not into the net. In the end Luis maintained his shutout in a thrilling well-played contest. With both teams dedicated to development the Wolfpack and Wildcats both have a number of new players with disabilities on their rosters. This is good for the game of sled hockey and good for the growing rivalry between these two teams. Watch for their next clash at the PNESHL on March 19th.
