Connecticut Wolfpack vs. New York The United Spinal Sled Hockey Team and the Connecticut Wolfpack played the first game ever in Prudential Northeast Sled Hockey League on Sunday, December 4th at the Danbury Ice Arena. Starting with a snow storm that closed I-84 for an hour delaying the arrival of half of the Connecticut players until actual game time, and facing an experienced New York team, both teams played with enthusiasm and determination. The Wolfpack began the game with only one line available and quickly fell behind on the scoreboard. The more experienced United Spinal Team featuring two 1998 Paralympians and augmented by a strong bench were able to move the puck well. Karen Smith, the Wolfpack goalie, did a splendid job posting 26 saves. The final score was NY 6, CT 0. Ken Messier, the Wolfpack's Team Leader and Governor thought his team played well in its first game of the season, with all the players showing significant improvement over last year thanks to the summer camp led by Jim Leatherman and the preseason coaching of Pat Carney. The Wolfpack was not at al discouraged by the loss and looks forward to an enjoyable fun filled sled hockey season of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
