The Bugs and
Connecticut Wolf Pack face off. Having just finished playing a hard fought, fast paced and exciting game against the team from Maine, there was no rest for the Bugs. The schedule saw the Bugs playing back to back games, so with just enough time to rest as the ice was cut, the Bugs replenished their fluids and set about getting ready to play game two. The scoring started early for the Bugs with Captain Matt Reidy finding the back of the net within the first two minutes of play. Reidy scored again on an assist from Mike Doyle to give the Bugs and early 2-0 advantage. Connecticut goalie Karen Smith was doing a good job stopping many of the pesky critters shots, however just before the end of the first period Josh Moran, Bugs hero from the first game, scored on an assist from Dave Antonini to put the Bugs up 3-0. The second period saw the Wolf Pack score first, on a great goal from Shaun Bucchere, who was assisted on the play by Kelly Hutchings and Ryan Pelletier. Realizing that they needed to turn up the pressure, Connecticut’s Colleen Rock decided to take on the Bug’s Jim (the Keg) Leatherman and show that their team meant business. Colleen “rocked” Leatherman with a spectacular fore check into the boards causing him to cough up the puck for a turnover. Leatherman was later overheard after the game saying that Colleen was a lot like Prudential, solid as a rock. The Bugs went on to victory by scoring two more times in the 3 period on goals from Mike Doyle and Josh Moran. While the score may not have showed it, all of the veteran players agreed that this young Wolf Pack team will soon be a force to be dealt with as they continue to grow and improve their game.
