May 25, 2005: Ken Messier, PNESHL Governor of the Connecticut Wolf Pack today announced that the location for the PNESHL has been determined and games days have been finalized. All four Game Days will be held at the Danbury Ice Arena in Danbury, Connecticut. Danbury is centrally located about 4 hours from both Portland, Maine and Baltimore, Maryland which will enable the teams traveling even the greatest distances to make the Game Days single day events, albeit long ones.
Karen Smith, the Wolf Pack's inimitable Goalie, is very
familiar with the rink and shared her perspective. "This is great!" she
said. "The woman who runs it seemed very interested in getting involved.
When I was there, I checked out the locker rooms and facilities and
everything was extremely accessible. Very large locker rooms with ramps
going to everything. Big snack bar, lots of picnic type tables for
eating inside, accessible bathrooms and showers."
"The rink can probably supply specifics," she
continued, "but there is a train station directly across the street
in case anyone wants to travel by train and there are several very
large shopping malls and hotels about 5 minutes away. Western CT
State University is right down the road. The rink does not have a
lot of it's own parking but there is a lot directly across the
street where you can park and also a very large multi-level indoor
garage across the other street. Everything is pretty close to I-84."
The PNESHL 2005/2006 Season Game Days will be December 4, January 22, February 19, and March 19. The games will begin at 10:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM. Please see the Schedule page of the PNESHL Website for competition match-ups, game times and more details.
