February 21, 2006:  The Prudential Northeast Sled Hockey League will wrap up its inaugural season on Sunday March 19, 2006.  The last 5 games of the season will prove to be exciting ones as the top 3 teams in the league slug it out for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  That’s right!  First place is still up for grabs.  The United Spinal Sled Hockey Rangers (NY) might think they are sitting pretty good with 5 wins no losses, 1 tie & 25 accumulated points, but the PA Center-Pedes (PA) are hot on their heels with 4 wins, 1 loss, 1 tie and 19 points.  The Portland Sled Hockey Pirates (ME) are also in strong contention with 3 wins, 1 loss, 2 ties and 20 points.  The team with the best W/L/T record will take 1st place and win the Dryden Cup.  If 2 or more teams have the same W/L/T record, then 1st place will be decided by the best ‘Head to Head’ record.  If teams are still tied, then the team with the highest number of accumulated points will be in 1st place.  This same system will be used to decide the other team placements in the league.

On any given day, any team can win or lose, and with the top 3 teams playing each other, expect plenty of action.  The United Spinal Sled Hockey Rangers (NY) probably have the toughest schedule, where they will have to play both the Portland Sled Hockey Pirates (ME) and the PA Center-Pedes (PA).

Here is one possible scenario:

ME beats NY & CT to end season with a 5-1-2 record and

NY looses ME & PA to end season with a 5-2-1 record and

PA beats NY & Looses to NH to end season with a 5-2-1 record then

ME would take 1st Place and

NY & PA would be tied in W/L/T record & in Head to Head record.

Then the Points come into play as to who is 2nd & who is 3rd. The most points PA could get in this scenario would be 7 & if NY didn't get any points then PA would take 2nd place 26 points to 25.

No matter how the teams place, the end of the season games on 3/19/06 will prove to be some of the most exciting and competitive games this year, as these 3 teams go all out for the top 3 places.
